Rainbow Vertical & Horizontal

Kindergarten students did a great job with this project! We painted vertically in rainbow colors even using the intermediate colors! We also learned the Spanish way to say the colors. Once the paintings were dry students cut horizontally and glued the strips down leaving a little space in between. Great project and good job Kinder Artists!

Burger Art-Back by popular demand!

This is one of those keeper projects! The students always ask about it and seem to really enjoy it. I found this project a few years back and not sure what site it was even on. I've seen other blogs show it too. I do it with 4th grade and we focus on shapes, line and texture. I tell the kids that we want people to get hungry looking at these! Pop art of course- a little Clas Oldenberg:http://unamericanaincucina.com/wordpress2/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/dualburger.jpg always does the trick. Then we view several picture of burgers from all the fast food places and some homemade looking ones too! Students can hardly wait to get going and I love this one too!

Thiebaud Ice Cream Cones

This is the second year I've done this project and once again it was a success! I saw it a few years back here:http://oodlesofart.blogspot.com/search/label/Wayne%20Thiebaud and will probably continue to do it! We look at Thiebaud's art, get hungry and then layer on some ice cream. The kids color with crayon and then do a light watercolor over the top!

Mister Seahorse!

I saw this over at http://onecrayolashort.blogspot.com/! A Super AWESOME idea and thank you! It was well worth the mess because the kids loved this one! We used sponges to dab on blue (12 x 18), Neon pink and orange (7 x18) and neon green and yellow (4x6). The painting took a full 60 minutes. The second class students traced my seahorse template and combined the picture. Results are amazing and thanks again for sharing over at One Crayola Short!!

Picasso Guitars

Second grade LOVES this project! I saw this last year over at Mr. E's place and had to do it again! The students enjoyed learning about Picasso and all of his many styles of art. We also learned the parts of a guitar and talked about the difference in an acoustic and electric. Lots of fun!

5th Grade Coil Pottery

Here are some of the coil pots made by the 5th graders. They all seem to love this project and the results are always great!
